Frugal Birthday Party

Published by couponqueenofcorning at 2:49 pm under FrugalLiving Edit This

We celebrated the Little Guy’s first birthday over the weekend. As usual I didn’t spend a lot of money on the party or really on the gifts either. One year olds don’t need a lot of toys and usually they’d rather play with the boxes and the wrapping paper!! lol. We did get him a medium sized dump truck and he loves it, though he does try to sit in it. lol. I made a Thomas the Train cake from a pan I bought years ago for my older son. I also made an additional cake just in case more people came. The cakes ended up costing me about $6 for frosting and cake mix. We had meatball subs for lunch, that I had baked and frozen the week before. Those basically cost the amount for hamburger ($5), 2 packs of rolls (bought on clearance and froze for $1.29 each) and two jars of spaghetti sauce ($1 each). For ice cream, we bought one of those big tubs for about $5. Wrapping paper was bought at the dollar store and we used leftover napkins from the last birthday party. All in all, I have to say it was a very successful birthday party.
