WOWSA! I SPENT $50 AND DIDN’T GET MUCH!
I went groce
ry shopping at a local store the other day. Most times I shop at Aldis, but the only reason I was shopping at this particular store was because I had a $50 gift card. The gift cards were given to all employees at his work by the union. Nice gift huh?
So, I figured I would use the $50 to stock up on things. They had ground beef on sale for $1.99 a pound when you bought 4 pounds or more. I think I bought around 5 pounds. I used some of it to make burgers for dinner that night and the rest went into making up meatballs to cook and freeze. All total, I went $8 over the amount of the gift card.
. So, our once a month shopping thing didn’t work great this month. That’s ok, because we also had to pick up coffee and pancake mix last week.
So here’s what I bought with our gift card:
2 cans of Green Giant corn 1.34
Kraft tarter sauce 1.85
Hershey dark chocolate chips 1.67
2 boxes of Special K with berries 5.98
Ritz crackers 2.50
2 jars Jif Peanut butter 4.16
Garlic salt 1.09
5 pounds flour 1.99
Ronzoni pasta .39 (on sale $1.39 - $1 coupon)
4 jars Francesco Rinaldi spaghetti sauce 4.96
150 Plates 3.91
10 pounds sugar 4.98
egg noodles 1.29
2 sets of 3 foil pans (for giving out goodies) 2.66
bananas 1.24
Ground beef 8.96
1 pound of beef for stew 2.69
1 pound of mozzarella 3.49
According to the receipt I saved $15.05 between sales and my sole coupon. Thank goodness for Aldis, that’s all I can say! There is no way I would be able to feed my family of 5 on about $50 a week if I had to shop elsewhere!
