Lately, most of my thoughts have been about the current state of the economy and how my family and I can best prepare just in case the worst happens. I’ve been reading a lot of web sites and blogs dealing with frugality and preparing.

1. The first link for today is A Full Cup. I discovered this site last week and love it! Have you ever heard of the Grocery Game. Well this is just like it, except it’s FREE. Sign-up is quick and easy. I can go on there and search for printable coupons that I need for my shopping trip. I can also put a local grocery (I was surprised they had my local store on there) and they list the sales, the coupons that go with them, and how much you will spend. I used to have to take out my ad, look through it for sales and then look through my coupons. What a pain!! This site even tells you when the coupons came out and where they came from.
2. I was also reading this week about the avian flu and the possibility of a pandemic occurring. Go check out Drum Runners. There was a link on there to a BBC special done a while ago on the avian flu and what they thought would happen if it became a pandemic. It was very interesting (and a little scary), but definitely worth watching. He has so many links on his site to not only help you prepare for a pandemic, but also to prepare for financially lean times.
3. The last link today is one of my new favorite sites. The Prudent Homemaker is an awesome site with recipes and menus, tips on shopping wisely, sewing and more. I LOVE her pictures of her stockpile and this is what I strive to have ours look like. She has a garden and cans every year. She also has 4 very young children and home-schools the older ones. I really don’t know how she has time to do it all, and keep up a website. I really think she should think about writing a book. Especially in these tough economic times, more and more people are trying to learn about how they can live more simplistic lives and in the process save money.
