My Personal Unemployment - Necessary Now
Now that my husband has been laid off, I wanted to revisit my unemployment budget that I posted a few weeks back. I had wanted to get more food stockpiled and more money saved, but there wasn’t enough time.
We will be getting a $5000 income tax refund around the 2oth, so that will help.
Income $1600
Expenses:
house $550
water $30
food $150
electric $85
heat $100
car payment $283
car insurance $100
internet $45
track phones $20
gas $80
Total Expenses $1441
Leftover $159
Of course, some months have an extra week. I haven’t included our credit cards. We are paying off 3 smaller ones which will reduce our $205 we pay a month down to $140 a month. We will take this $140 out of our savings each month (tax refund) Now, I also have student loans, but they are in deferment for as long as I am at least a part-time student. So as long as I don’t have to stop taking classes until I graduate in 2010 we should be fine. This budget also assumes canceling our cell phones (no fee for canceling because we haven’t renewed our contract yet), and canceling cable.
